Émile Claus (belge,1849-1924) - Les Faneurs

Émile Claus’s Les Faneurs depicts peasants gathering and turning hay beneath the radiant light of a summer day. The workers, scattered across the sunlit meadow, appear absorbed in their physical labour, their movements harmoniously integrated into the landscape. Influenced by Impressionism, he captures fleeting effects of sunlight and atmosphere. The painting celebrates rural life, transforming ordinary agricultural work into a joyful, almost poetic vision of nature.
