Sue is tired of being away from Emily. She basically believes that the baby is hers and Emily’s… not Austin. The poems were all she had of Emily’s and she saw it like a commitment to her and now that Emily is showing her poems to someone else, it feels like she’s not committed to Sue. Sue wants her to just live with her and be like a proper family which would mean that Emily could actually focus on her work and Sue finally getting Emily all to herself. Emily has trouble accepting the complexity of their love and is probably depressed because she assumes that Sue doesn’t love her now because of the baby.
