O meu coração nasceu nu,
logo em fraldas embalado.
Só mais tarde usou
poemas em vez de roupas.
Tal como a camisa que punha
levava sobre o corpo
a poesia que lera.
Vivi meio século assim
até que, sem uma palavra, nos encontrámos.
A minha camisa nas costas da cadeira
diz-me que hoje percebi
quantos anos
a decorar poemas
esperei por ti.
É pena não existirem mais traduções em Língua Portuguesa deste excelente poeta. Repare-se nestes dois exemplos:
KERCHIEF
In the
morning
folded with
its wild flowers
washed and
ironed
it takes up
little space in the drawer.
Shaking it
open
she ties it
round her head.
In the
evening she pulls it off
and lets it
fall
still
knotted to the floor.
On a cotton
scarf
among
printed flowers
a working day
has written its dream.
BRIEF AS
PHOTOS
When I open
my wallet
to show my
papers
pay money
or check the
time of a train
I look at
your face.
The flower's
pollen
is older
than the mountains
Aravis is
young
as mountains
go.
The flower's
ovules
will be
seeding still
when Aravis
then aged
is no more
than a hill.
The flower
in the heart's
wallet, the
force
of what
lives us
outliving
the mountain.
And our
faces, my heart, brief as
photos.
