Polish painter Henryk Hektor Siemiradzki (1843-1902) - Dangerous Lesson, 1886

The painting depicts a classical ancient scene of archery training. The oil-on-canvas work (housed in the State Open-air Museum of History and Architecture in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Russia) portrays a young man instructing a female companion (or youth) in handling a bow and arrow. Beyond the physical skill of target practice, the composition plays on the delicate tension, intimacy, and potential emotional or romantic spark between the figures sharing the lesson. It's a love lesson.
