Gustave Caillebotte - Linen out to Dry, Petit Gennevilliers, 1888

The painting captures an ordinary domestic scene with remarkable freshness and attention to light. White linen hangs outdoors, gently moving in the breeze against the peaceful surroundings of Petit Gennevilliers, near the Seine. Through subtle contrasts between sunlight, fabric and greenery, Caillebotte celebrates everyday life and the tranquil atmosphere of the French countryside.
