Arthur Stocks’s Love Letter portrays a young woman in front of a window opened to receive a letter from an older man. She is afraid of her relatives inside - so afraid, that her possessions were in disorder - the book she was reading is on the floor and we also see a third person on the mirror. Those times were not easy for lovers.
