Adam and Eve with fig
leaves and Christ on the cross are Christendom's epitome of the naked, sexless
body. The erotic works of the visual arts have emphasized the secondary sex
characteristics, while the genitals have been left to pornography. Only late in
the history of European art is this division combated - and the whole body
equated with the loving souls - in the act of love.
