      Adam and Eve with fig leaves and Christ on the cross are Christendom's epitome of the naked, sexless body. The erotic works of the visual arts have emphasized the secondary sex characteristics, while the genitals have been left to pornography. Only late in the history of European art is this division combated - and the whole body equated with the loving souls - in the act of love.
