Anne of Green Gables by
L.M. Montgomery follows Anne Shirley, an imaginative and spirited orphan
mistakenly sent to live with elderly siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert on
Prince Edward Island. Though they had intended to adopt a boy to help on their farm,
Anne's charm quickly wins them over. As she adjusts to her new home, Anne
navigates school, friendships, and rivalries—particularly with Gilbert Blythe,
who becomes both competitor and companion. Through trials and triumphs, Anne
matures while retaining her vivid imagination and kind heart, ultimately
finding love, purpose, and a true sense of belonging at Green Gables.
