A. Gallen-Kallela - "Aino"

 

      Marvelous painting portraying an event in the Finnish national epic, Kalevala. This is the central panel of the "Aino Myth" triptych, where the artist’s wife Mary was used as his model. It depicts fisherman Väinömoinen having thrown away a small fish, who turns out to be "Aino", who laughs at him and vanishes forever.
