The Finnish painter Pekka Halonen. Born to a farming
family in Lapinlahti, he trained in art in Helsinki and Paris, studied under
Paul Gaughin, then returned home to devote himself to painting the Finnish
landscape and people. His house and studio on on Lake Tuusula, once the center
of a rural arts colony, is now a house museum dedicated to Halonen's life and
work.
