Henry Herbert La
Thangue was a British painter (1859–1929) known for rural realism and
naturalistic scenes of agricultural life. Associated with the Newlyn School, he
depicted farmers and labourers with detailed observation and muted tones.
Trained at the Royal Academy and in Paris, he blended French naturalism with
English subjects. Here are examples of his vast work of art.
