"Quiet Don"
- an epic film based on the novel by Mikhail Sholokhov about the fate of the don
Cossacks of Russia in the early twentieth century. The plot tells the story of
the Cossack Melekhov family on the background of the first world war and the
Civil war in the 1910-1920's. The drama of the protagonist of the film
Grigory Melekhov, his tragic love for neighbour Aksinya, which he carried
through life. It's Russia trying to preserve its culture.
