    Pub é a abreviatura de 'public place' e a sua origem remonta ao longínquo tempo da ocupação romana na Grã-Bretanha. Os primeiros 'lugares públicos' da Irlanda datam do fim do Século XII. O pub é tradicionalmente um local reservado ao encontro de amigos, para jogar, tratar de negócios, dançar e, por oportuno, consumir bebidas para esquecer as dores da vida.

    Do mesmo modo que Amália Rodrigues, há décadas atrás, se insurgia contra a descaracterização da Casa da Mariquinhas, os The Rumjacks, neste tema, não aceitam a proliferação dos Irish pubs que não respeitam a verdadeira tradição irlandesa.
